How To Get a Credit Card If You Have Bad Credit

Having bad credit is not necessarily the end of the world. Although many funding options are closed to you, there are still options available. A credit card is one of those options. Here are 4 ways to get a credit card while having bad credit:

1) Request credit to a small department or retail store. They usually do not require a credit history or a very high credit score. If it is accepted, making occasional small purchases while paying at least the minimum payment on time every month. This can increase your credit score in the long term.

2) Ask a friend or relative to co-sign for you. Make sure you find someone with good credit or their efforts will be futile. If you are behind in payments, the flaw also displayed on the other side of the credit, so be careful when using this option.

3) Apply at the same bank you own a checking or savings account. A bank that already has your business can be more than willing to issue credit, regardless of their history. As added benefit, sometimes the application process may be easier and faster this way.

4) If all else fails, ask for a secured credit card. This option would require a savings account as collateral, and your credit limit is reflected as a percentage of their savings. This can be a good choice for someone looking to raise your credit score for a long period of time.
